Curriculum (Strategies for Effective Delivery)

As educators, we know that effective curriculum is rooted in strong instructional design principles and supported by the latest research and theory. This requires a framework for drawing together relevant educational resources to effectively address state standards and promote student learning.

The 7 Key Indicators for Quality Curriculum Implementation

We address the core indexes that lead to success in curriculum implementation. Schools are given an opportunity to measure their current success against these benchmarks.

Implementing State Curriculum Standards

State school curriculum focused on the Common Core for several years. Presently there is a shift to Next Generation Standards. Both Common Core Standards and Next Generation Standards are addressed by IBEI educators.

Implementing NYS Next Generation Curriculum Standards

IBEI staff examine the Shifts from Common Core to Next Generation Standards and breaks down Next Generation standards into elemental parts.

English Language Arts: Grades K-2

Foundational ELA skills and building for Grade 3 Learning Standard

Attention is also given to phonics and decoding. K-2 Learning standards addressed.

English Language Arts: Grades: 6-8

More specific attention to the needs of general education and special education students. Academic writing and reading in content literature is emphasized. Teachers are given tools to unpack learning standards. Online teacher resources are identified as additional tools for teaching and learning.

English Language Arts: Grades: 3-5

Building on K-2 learning standards and advancing towards Middle School…

Attention is given to elemental parts of standards and the need for students to begin modeling academic writing skills.

Seminars emphasize the importance of referencing and using supporting details. Close reading is emphasized as a strategy for certifying supporting details.

English Language Arts: Grades: 9-12

Professional development seminars build on Grades 6-8 content. Teaching standards build on concepts and skills mastered at all previous levels.

Professional development seminars include non-academic factors affecting student learning. These include factors such as student mental health and home-related issues.

Teachers review and evaluate their students’ demonstrated learning skills. Emphasis is given to collaborative learning often needed for success at college classes.

Student Mental Health and Academic Achievement

IBEI instructors examine the emotional stages experienced by students affected by trauma or mental illness, while on their way to recovery.

Parent Organizations that Build Strong School Communities

This program discusses the importance of parent organizations in schools, highlighting their role in improving communication and collaboration between home and school, as well as promoting student achievement. Research suggests that these organizations play a vital role in building strong school communities by helping to create positive learning environments for students. Overall, the program emphasizes the important role that parents can play in supporting and improving schools.

Entrepreneurship for Students

This program focuses on the skills needed for starting, growing, and managing a successful business.

Attention is given to building a business for future success and developing concomitant personal life skills. Instructional skills are as follows:

Coding in Robotics

IBEI coaches focus on using coding in robotics, to bolster student achievement in Mathematics and Science. Programming addresses:

Build and code(program) robots to perform various tasks.
Problem solving with coding.
Coding in everyday life.
LOGIC relative to thinking logically.
Block coding
